Chemical Dose Controller Meeting Minutes

Spring 2009 Minutes

2/28/09

Working Group: Nonlinear CD

Nadia
Julia

Accomplishments
  • Met with Monroe to discuss Design
  • Worked on MathCAD Design file
Metrics
  • for 6000 L/min plant flow, the maximum flow through the CD will be 2.5 L/min
  • The diameter of the tubing between the flow controller and the pressure break T is 0.75 in
  • For up to 10000L/min plant flow, float valves PT75SS or
    PT100SS will give minimal headlosses
Outcomes
  • Need to design system based on a range of plant flow rates
  • Need to add force balance of CD vs. float to the mathCAD file
Issues
  • Need to design flow control module to incorporate contain large float valve into designdevice

Accomplishments

...

  • We set up the existing chemical doser with the 3/8" tubing.
  • Met with Monroe to set up and outline for the paper
  • Worked on creating a robust float sizing algorithm
Metrics
  • The 3/8" tube maintained free fall
Outcomes
  • Need to order 1/4" T and test to see if it maintains free fall.
  • Need to document tests of different tubing sizes.
  • Determined the scope of the paper
  • Established proper nomenclature for the Chemical Dose Controller
  • Determined previous data may be compromised
  • We will meet on Sunday to work on Mathcad
Issues
  • Need to specify scope and data inclusion for paper
  • Need to determine the part name so that we may order the T
Metrics
  • Quantitative and qualitative results from accomplishments and outcomes.
  • Potential metrics for unresolved issues.
Outcomes
  • A summary of resolutions based on what was accomplished.
  • New directions and ideas that result from these resolutions.
Issues
  • Difficult and unresolved issues
  • Plans for action
