Tracy Gabridge has held a variety of positions including co-Head of the Engineering and Science Libraries during her 13 years at MIT.  Her library career focus has been on developing and evolving liaison services to match the highly dynamic needs of the MIT community, using a variety of assessment tools including ethnographic methods to inform action.   Tracy has been an active participant in the support and implementation of MIT's Open Access Policy.  Recently she investigated content use principles in Massively Open Online Classes (MOOCs) as part of the edX Libraries Collaborative group. She began her work in libraries in 2000 after a successful career as an electrical engineer and manager at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technologies.

National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, Zhixiong Zhang, Assistant Director of National Science Library (4-year term, ending in December 2016)

Zhixiong Zhang is a Assistant Director and the Head of Information Systems Department, National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was a member of arXiv Interim Member Advisory Board from June 2012 to October 2012. And now he is the convener of arXiv.org China Service Group and the operator of arXiv China mirror site. The arXiv.org China Service Group is set up on Oct 22, 2012. The Goal of the group is to promote arXiv activities in China, to provide training services of arXiv to Chinese users, to channel user feedback on the services and development of arXiv.org, to provide necessary input and cooperative efforts in further development of arXiv.org. Zhixiong Zhang also is a standing committee member of IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) IT Section. He is the deputy head of Academic Committee for Digital Library Research and Development of the Library Society of China. He is expert at digital library, preservation repository, knowledge organization, OA and OSS. He published about 100 research papers on related topics.

University of Melbourne, Australia, Philip G. Kent, University Librarian (4-year term,ending in December 2016)

Philip’s 30 year career in libraries includes the CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency and a variety of universities. A major achievement was the creation of the largest locally loaded full text science library collection in Australia. During that time he enjoyed collaborations with libraries at Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Max Planck Society. He represented CSIRO on the International Council for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI). The University of Melbourne ranks as Australia’s top research intensive university. It is one of the top users of arXiv in Australia. Since joining Melbourne in 2009, the Library is being reinvigorated under Philip’s leadership. A ten year strategy is being pursued to better support the University’s mission in research, learning, teaching and engagement. Philip chairs the Group of 8 University Librarians, is a member of the executive of the Council of Australian University Librarians and a Director of CAVAL Ltd. In addition to mainstream library issues his job encompasses cultural collections and fundraising.

University of Alberta, Canada, Tim Klassen, Head, Science and Technology Library (6-year term)

Tim Klassen is Head, Science & Technology Library at the University of Alberta in Edmonton Alberta. Previous positions include Head of the Science Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and at Wesleyan University. He was also a Science Librarian at Southern Connecticut State University and the University of Oregon, and was Systems Librarian at Southern Connecticut State University. Tim has almost 20 years of experience in Physics collection development and has been involved in a number of Physics journal evaluation projects. Current interests include assessment, e-science, and all issues related to OA publishing. He’s a 20 year plus member of ALA, has served on several STS committees, and is currently co-chair of the Assessment Committee.

University of Helsinki, Finland, Eva Isaksson, Physics Librarian (4-year term, ending in December 2016)

 

Three vacant seats to be filled in early 2017Eva Isaksson works as a physics librarian at University of Helsinki Library, with a focus in bibliometrics and quality control of the physics publications entered in the University of Helsinki research database. She worked at the Helsinki Observatory 1981-2009 as an astronomy librarian, has been active with several LISA (Library and Information Services in Astronomy) conferences and is an editor of LISA V and LISA VII proceedings volumes. She has studied theoretical physics and done research in the history of theories of gravitation prior to entering a career in librarianship. She is also author of books on women scientists and the social responsibility of scientific research.

ADD BIOMullins has been at Purdue since 2004; prior he held positions at MIT, Villanova and Indiana Universities. He servied in leadership positions within the American Library Association and the Association of Research Libraries, including a term as member of the ARL board of directors and is past-chair of the e-Science Working Group. Internationally, he has been active in IFLA's Science and Technology Section, a board member of IATUL, and a founding member of DataCite. He received his undergraduate and MALS degrees from the University of Iowa and a PhD from Indiana University. His research interest is in data management and the role of library and archival sciences in data organization and preservation.
