2011-2012 FULBRIGHT U.S. STUDENT PROGRAM

The competition for the Fulbright U.S. Student program formally opens on May 1, and will remain open until September 9. The program is open to current juniors and graduate students who are If you are interested in an opportunity to spend a year after graduation in an international environment to experience another culture while at the same time pursuing your academic development, all without financial cost, then we hope you will consider applying for a Fulbright Student Fellowship. This is a prestigious award, eligible only to U.S. citizens. We hope you will alert and encourage your students to consider this excellent opportunity to both enhance their academic development and to gain a greater understanding of another culture. The program provides full financial support for a year abroad, for academic course work, research, or as a teaching assistant.

Information sessions are being held next week, Wednesday, February 10 (for undergraduates) and Thursday, February 11 (for graduates and alums). Both sessions will begin at 4:30 pm in G08 Uris Hall. Additional sessions are scheduled for April 12 and 13.

, and one in which Cornell students have competed very successfully. The Cornell deadline for applications is September 9, 2010, but we have found that starting early is critical to a competitive application.

The final information sessions before this year's competition opens on May 1, will be held on the following dates in G08 Uris Hall, 4:30 p.m.

Monday, April 12 (for undergraduates only)

Tuesday, April 13 (for graduates only)

Juniors are encouraged to apply in order to be able to start the Fulbright program immediately on graduation.
