Teach-In

Assignment

The teach-ins are meant to be a way for team members to become more fluent when talking about their projects, and for all AguaClara students to learn about the work being done on the other sub-teams. Teach-ins are not graded so please take risks! If you're new on the team, or not one of the senior members on a team, go ahead and make a few slides to present anyway

You should begin your teach-in by introducing the team members and giving a brief overview of why your team exists or a history of your team.

In your presentation you should include:

  • Background of your team
  • Semester goals
  • Important deadlines
  • What you are working on now
  • Expected challenges

The goal of the teach-in is to inform all AguaClara members what your subteam does. You should include pictures of lab setups, images from programs run, useful charts or graphs, etc, in order to make it clear what your team is all about. This is your chance to explain your project and educate the entire team. You can also use some of your time explaining obstacles or challenges you are facing and requesting feedback from the class. The teach-ins are meant to be fun and informative and will give Monroe a good idea of how well you understand and can communicate about the work you are doing.

This semester we are making enforcing teach-ins shorter (most teams are sharing their time slot so it's about 20-25 minutes including question and answer time). We want the presentations to really be "AguaClara Lite" so please keep the number of slides low-ish.time limits. Each Team will have 25 minutes total, 5 minutes to setup, 15 minutes to present, and 5 minutes for Q&A.
