The Heading Widget provides a way to add headings to your pages. These are used to separate major areas of a page.

Common Steps for All Widgets

  • view the page you want to edit
  • click Edit button

General Guidelines

  • The Page Title is by default an H1 heading, and so all headings on your page should be H2 and any sub-headings in the H2 section should be H3.
  • H4 headings (or smaller) will be too similar to the text size on the page, and generally not recommended.
  • Do not use bold or italics as a substitute for a heading.
  • Do not skip heading levels. Proper usage of headings helps screen readers understand the structure of the page.

  9. To create a third level heading H3, or a fourth level heading H4, do not use the header widget but rather use hashmarks (###) in the text field before the text. These level headings should only be used for sub-sections in order. Do not skip levels or this can upset the hierarchy making it difficult for screen readers and search engines to understand the structure of the page.
