Spring 2017 Contributions
For my first semester on Agua Clara AguaClara I was placed on the newly formed Filter and Treatment Train Flow Control Team. This team hopes to improve the design of the weirs under low water flow conditions. Over the course of the semester, I hope to design a modular and easily operable mechanism that directs flow rate in a simple manner. I plan to improve on the fabrication skills I already posses and extend into the relatively unknown medium of PVC.
After working on this team for a whole semester I am able to say that FTTFC has successfully constructed a working weir for the filter entrance tanks. I was able to apply my skills in CADing and fabrication to help this goal become realized. Many of the initial prototypes were modeled in Fusion 360, as well as the final construction plan. After all the modeling was done I applied my previous wood working experience to the project and even learned new techniques when working with a new material, PVC.
