Subject: Sponsored netid renewal request (actual NetID)

Dear so-and-so,
In accordance with university policy, CIT requires that all sponsored NetIDs be verified at least once a year by the department chair (David Collum). Every month, CIT provides us with a list of these sponsored NetIDs that will expire at the end of this month unless they are renewed. These former visitors and/or students traditionally are provided sponsored NetIDs to maintain their access to the Cornell Library, Cornell email accounts, and/or group cluster resources. All sponsored NetIDs must be approved by the department chair at creation and renewal.

CIT this month has provided the following list of sponsored NetIDs that are about to expire that we believe are associated with your research group:

NetID Firstname Lastname

The above sponsored NetID(s) will expire at the end of the month unless they are renewed.

If the above user(s) continues to need access to a sponsored NetID, please email David Collum <dbc6@cornell.edu>, with a cc to <ChemIT@cornell.edu>, with a your request that the NetID(s) be renewed and for how long. Once David approves, our office will provide David a form to sign and we will forward it to CIT for processing.
If the above Our group will then process the request, on David Collum’s behalf.

If we don’t hear from you, the above NetID(s) will expire since we’ll presume the above user(s) no longer needs access to a sponsored NetID, nothing from you is required and the NetID will expire, although . However, if you could please email us at <ChemIT@cornell.edu> anyway to let us know for our records, your decision to not renew we would appreciate it since it . Doing so will confirm receipt of this message and allow use to disable accounts quickly.

Thank you, -Yourname

P.S. Q: Why do we have to do this at all?
