I worked on the Fabrication team to design easy ways to fabricate plant parts on-site in Honduras. We investigated the differences between drill bits and hole saws, found where each has the most benefit to use, and came up with better, faster ways to drill holes in PVC pipes and sheets. We worked on the design of a trashracks to capture large debris in the entrance tank, taking into account head loss across the rack and easily available materials to use. We constructed an adjustable weir for better control over entrance tank water level by using a flexible coupling to allow a 6 inch PVC pipe to slide up and down over a 4 inch pipe. We looked into alternative power sources for the cordless drill being used, such as a 12V car battery. We investigated a few different designs for attaching 1 inch PVC pipe perpendicular to 6 inch pipe for the inlet manifold of the sedimentation tank.
