Images, Copyright, and Permissions with Peter HirtleHirtle
October 31, 11am
Images can enliven a presentation, spruce up a flyer, or be at the heart of an academic analysis.  But copyright in images can present impediments to their use.  In this workshop we will examine when imagesare protected, what can be freely used, and when and how to seek permission.  It should help staff understand how to use images legally and ethically when creating libguides, web sites, flyers, and presentations. I should also help them feel more comfortable when assisting students and faculty at service desks.

CUL MediaSpace with Jason Kovari and Danielle Mericle
November 27, 12pm

DCAPS is pleased to announce the release of a BETA version of the Kaltura-based CULMediaSpace, which aggregates audio/video content from across CUL into a single interface. Preview the site at media.library.cornell.edu.

Danielle Mericle (Director, Digital Media Group) and Jason Kovari (Metadata Librarian, Humanities & Special Collections) will discuss Kaltura, provide an overview of CULMediaSpace and demonstrate the site. This brown bag will also provide a forum in which library staff can give feedback and discuss their audio/video needs.
