I have worked in conjunction with Kayti Curtis and Yoon Choi in the creation of MathCad files for sizing the components of the lever arm and the rapid mix tube We have helped to identify all the essential design constraints for the elemenets of the dosing arm and constituent parts. These design parameters include the sizing of the rapid mix orifices to achieve a certain energy dissipation rate, and how to best create the scale on the lever arm. I also assisted in the sizing of the float in the rapid mix tube. I have also been put in charge of creating an excel file for helping to create a acrylic model of the Agalteca plant. I have also conducted experiments in order to determine the constraints on the sizing of the dosing orifice, by conducting clogging experiments to find the nature of the clogs. Spring 2010 contribution
I have helped write the P3 report which we submitted successfully to the EPA for the competition in late April. I have also written a user manual for the AguaClara engineers in Honduras for the usage of the Nonlinear Chemical Doser at the Agalteca plant. Included in the document are ways of measuring plant flow rate and adjusting the plant headloss as well as a users manual for the doser. In addition, I have been doing testing on the doser frame in the AguaClara lounge to verify that our actual dosing is near the theoretical values.
