Challenges for Spring 2009

Subteam Leader: Heather Reed

Number of team members needed: 10-15

Important team member skills:

• CEE 4540
• CEE 3310
• Familiarity with AutoCAD & MathCAD
  These skills are helpful but not 100% necessary. We're willing to train new members!

Challenges

Flocculator

• Continue the development of the horizontal flocculator for large flow rates
• Add capability for user to specify the height of the sed tank to take advantage of elevation gradientt
• Draw the drain valves

Sedimentation Tank

• Code algorithm for sizing the new inlet weir
• Draw the new weir in AutoCAD
• Change the old distribution slopes to be solid concrete walls
• Change the sedimentation tank drain
• Include the sed tank drain valves

Inlet and Exit Weir Tanks

• Code the waste channel along the inlet channel of the sed tank
• Extend the inlet and exit weir pipes and draw complete drainage system
• Draw caps on inlet and exit weir pipes
