With nearly two-thirds of Americans living in urban settings, many of our fundamental challenges will require our cities to be laboratories for innovation. EERL has successfully deployed a prototype environmental sensing network in Ithaca using LoraWAN technology. We are looking for highly motivated students to expand our Internet of Things (IoT) network to monitoring energy consumption, indoor temperature and air quality in commercial and residential buildings, including the new Maplewood Apartments (graduate student housing at Cornell). Our goal is to turn Ithaca into a smart city.
