New York State is working aggressively towards a sustainable energy system. For example, the new Clean Energy Standard mandates that 50 percent of all electricity consumed in New York by 2030 result from clean and renewable energy sources. We are looking for motivated students to evaluate the potential of solar energy in 62 counties in New York, and investigate unintended impact of fossil-fueled distributed generation. The overall goal is to create scenarios on what the New York energy systems might look like in 2030. Students will work closely with New York City Mayor’s Office and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
