Introduction
The Hernandez Research Group is studying mechanical stress and strain distributions in spongy bone of live animals.
Description
The student will determine a way of converting three-dimensional x-ray images (CT, computed tomography) into an ABAQUS input file to simulated a compressive load. The ABAQUS input file will then be submitted to a remote supercomputer and the student will analyze the results. Prior experience with Matlab (or lower level computer languages) is necessary, prior work with ABAQUS or FE packages is not required.
