Objective: To quantify the potential for renewable energy generation in the Tompkins County

Background: The Tompkins County has set a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by the year 2050.  One of the key aspects is to identify potentially viable renewable energy resources such as solar, wind, small hydro, biomass and deep geothermal.

Scope of Work: MEng students will join a dynamic team to analyze the different options for renewable energy systems locally, interview renewable energy systems developers and installers, participate in public outreach, and write a comprehensive report about your findings. The final energy roadmap will be voted by the County Legislature in early 2015.
