My name is Dalanda Jalloh and I am a senior majoring in Biological Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. I am from Gaithersburg, Maryland---just one hour north of Washington, DC and one hour south of Baltimore, MD. At Cornell I am a member of Teszia, the belly dance troupe, the National Society of Black Engineers, Engineering Ambassadors, the CUEMPower mentoring program, and I do undergraduate research in the biomedical instrumentation department of Weill Hall. Whenever I get a break from all these activities I love watching sports, especially American football and tennis! My favorite football team is the Washington Redskins and Rafael Nadal is my favorite tennis player.
I chose this course because I needed to satisfy one more liberal studies course for my major and I wanted to learn more about art and get a break from all the math and science of engineering. I really enjoyed art and art history in high school in addition to the two courses I’ve taken in the Africana department, so I’m hoping this class can be another positive art learning experience.
