1. When you leave a layup or paint booth project: Leave a note!

  • Write: 1) team name, 2) your name, 3) phone, 4) end time
  • Specify whether other teams can move project / unplug the pump once time is up

2. When you cut carbon fiber:

  • Wear particulate masks, eyeglasses, and gloves!!
  • Let other people around you know they should wear masks
  • Mist spray the composite material (use squirt bottles)
  • Cut on downdraft table
  • Point a vacuum at cut area during entire time (one person holds vacuum, one person cuts)

3. Masks are good for 8 hours of chemical contact and should only be reused if you are taking a 1 hour break or less.

4. Do not drink or eat food in composites. Hazardous chemicals are in use here. Step out to the hallway or office for breaks.

5. Be mindful that people need acrylic top tables for layups. Use wooden tables if you aren’t doing a layup.

6. Pick up after yourself. Do not leave scraps or trash on the floor.

7. Clean off tables when you are done. Use acetone as necessary.

8. Dispose of any applicable chemical waste in the chemical waste bin. Fuel and oils (autolab waste) is NOT allowed in the bin. Clean off tools using acetone into the bin, NOT into the sink.

9. Train your team members well.
