Biography

My name is Sten Anderson and I originally come from the Garden State, but have been a resident of central New York for about 7 years.  When I am not grading papers or planning lessons (which seems to be always at the early stage of my teaching career), you will probably find me in one of the beautiful state forests of CNY hiking with my lovely wife Jenny, and Jack Russell Terrier, Simon.  I moved to CNY in 2007 after meeting my wife while thru-hiking the Appalachain Trail in 2005.  The forests give me a sense of peace and calm after a crazy week of teaching middle schoolers!

School Work

I currently am teaching both sixth grade Earth Science and seventh grade Life Science at Dryden Middle School.  I like to think that my classroom is an active space where I try to incorporate as many student-centered approaches to teaching the content as possible.  Being my first year I am definitely learning by trial-and-error, so I like to think that I am learning as much as my students!  Ultimately, I try to think of ways to make it so that students get truly interested in science and the world around them.
