Collection Building Interfaces with Luna Insight
Gale Halpern
The talk will illustrate two working examples of system interfaces which support the growth of image collections in Luna Insight; the Herbert F. Johnson 'Museum Online' project and KVRF, a collection of visual resources for instruction in Cornell's Architecture, Art and Art History departments. The systems involved are 1) the Herbert F. Johnson Museum Luna collection link with The Museum System (TMS by Gallery Systems), and 2) the Knight Visual Resources Luna collection link with PicTor, a locally constructed MS Access system supporting images for instruction. The presentation will compare and contrast these two interfaces, and talk about issues arising in their development.
Gale Halpern has been an employee of Cornell University Library for over eight years. Hired onto the Museum Online project in 1999, she has been the Technical Project Lead on both interface projects. Gale has over 20 years of experience as a systems analyst and developer in commercial and academic environments.. Most recently, she was also project coordinator in the CUL Registry development project.
