Question: How can I see RDA for myself, right now?

Answer:  RDA is primarily accessed through the Web-based product called RDA Toolkit.  Bookmark this site on your computer:

http://access.rdatoolkit.org/

Here are some suggestions about how to start exploring RDA and the Toolkit functionality in preparation for the class on June 21.

The left-hand column of the welcome screen says, rather unhelpfully, nothing but "+ RDA."  Click on the plus sign to open the text.

You might find it helpful to print out the Table of Contents and keep it for reference in order to help integrate in your head the structure of RDA with the seemingly random placement of individual instructions.  You can print a section of RDA by hitting "Print Text" in the upper right corner.

To look at some of the fun new rules that RDA will be introducing to our work lives, try these searches in the RDA Quick Search box.

Search 2.4.1.5: No more Rule of Three!  Check out the Optional Omission.

Search 1.7.9: No more [metaserv:sic] in transcription areas.  To confirm, search keyword "sic" in the RDA Quick Search box: no results.

Search 9.19.1.6 and 9.19.1.7: Change in how to handle undifferentiated personal names.
