Harold wants this server at Cornell instead of where it is now.
Harold let Oliver know on 3/13/13 (Wed) that he wanted a server he pays for, and which he reported is running in Argentina, to run instead of Cornell. The pain-point is the mechanics of paying, I believe due to currency exchange issues. Reportedly about $1K/yr.

Harold explained to Oliver that this server is in Argentina, and what the server does. However, he didn't know what the server was running or other information necessary to cost out what it would take to run and support the server here.

Oliver is guessing, from a Google search, that the server is:

http://www.cheshift.com/

This is IP <208.84.148.45>.

It appears to be running in Orlando, Florida, in the US.

It's a LAMP stack: Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.4-2ubuntu5 with Suhosin-Patch

LAMP => Linux, Apache, MySQL (presumed, in this case!), and PHP.

Hosting company, <http://rapidvps.com/>. Allows root access. Supported OS, <http://rapidvps.com/index.php?page=Info.OperatingSystems>.

Above information from:

Some services require Java, <http://www.cheshift.com/example/example.html>.

Oliver's guess at what is needed:

1) A LAMP host.

2) Somebody to set up the software and initial configuration, testing, and de-bugging in the new location.

3) Somebody to monitor the site.

4) Somebody to deal with updates to the underlying infrastructure (mostly software, if hosted) and resolve problems when those changes negatively affect any of the moving parts associated with the web application.

5) Somebody to make requested changes.
