Subject: Status on getting used computers for new Physics lab

Mark,

Following up on our discussion earlier this week when I stopped by, I asked my former colleagues at the Library about getting more hand-me-down computers from them, and it looks promising. They wrote, “Hi Oliver, We do have some replacements happening this summer that might work well for you.  We’ve just started some of the process so it’s too early to have anything on hand.  As we go through we can set some things aside and let you know when we have a good bunch ready for you.” Although Chemistry usually gets first dibs, we’ve almost always left more than 10 behind so I’m not expecting any “conflict of needs”. :-)

I let Craig know of your need when I met with him yesterday and that I was working on finding free, old computers for the new initiative. I trust he’ll hear more about your plans directly from you. And if the lab becomes “real” after it’s confirmed it’s a pedagogical winner for your Honors students, we can all hope there will be on-going funding to match the new need.  -Oliver.
