Partnership evaluation rubric

Exploring and evaluating our options for renewing arXiv.org's technical infrastructure includes both careful evaluation of different technological strategies, but in some cases, it also requires us to weigh the risks, costs an benefits of entering into a partnership with one or more organizations. We're pleased to share a rubric we are trying out for this purpose, and welcome your thoughts.

In response to an increasing number of submissions on topics related to applied physics, the arXiv Scientific Advisory Board has approved the addition of a new subject area for the field. This new “Applied Physics” subject area is for papers that would have been too much on the applied side to fit into related arXiv areas such as optics and material science. It also is covers new areas such as device physics and energy science.

Researchers can begin submitting papers to Applied Physics immediately. To subscribe to the daily e-mail notifications for physics.app-ph, please see the subscription instructions.

Description of Applied Physics (physics.app-ph) subject area

  • Applications of physics to new technology, including: electronic devices; optics; photonics; microwaves; spintronics; advanced materials; metamaterials; nanotechnology; and energy sciences.
