AAD administrators always had the ability to make changes on their own. One of DNSDB's major strengths is it allows distributed independent management of DNS and network configurations.  Some organizations never ask for Hostmaster assistance, others rely exclusively on it.

Hostmaster is happy to assist with any change. We will try to make requested changes as quickly and as accurately as possible.

After hours changes is one area where self-service becomes important. The human Hostmasters are only available 7am-4pm weekdays. If a change needs to be made on a weekend or early morning, units need to plan on using the self-service features.

Send an email with your request to hostmaster@cornell.edu

-------------------- Test System for Hostmaster commands --------------------

There is a full parallel Test system. It works just like production but updates do not actually change DNS. You can test commands and changes there before doing them in production. Even the Hostmasters test each change there before making production changes, we think it is just good practice.
