Event lead checklist

This to-do list covers the minimum items required to complete for online events made available to all Cornell alumni.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Guide

Event leads are encouraged to reference this guide when planning all alumni events and partnering with entities outside Cornell Alumni Affairs and Development (AAD) that include Cornell branding.

Speaker releases and copyright agreements

In order to minimize legal risk, the university is increasing scrutiny of marketing permissions, copyright protection, and compliance of copyrights. With that in mind, below are the guidelines, FAQs, and speaker releases/copyright agreements that AAD leadership and the Office of University Counsel have approved for our division moving forward:

  • Explanation of Guidelines
  • Frequently Asked Questions
  • Standard Recording Release
    • Cornell University Faculty and Staff do NOT need to sign these.
    • Cornell University Alumni and Students DO need to sign these.
    • These should be used only if the speakers are not presenting any audio/visual material. If they are, they should sign the Performance Agreement instead.
  • Performance Agreement
    • This should be used for ANY speaker who is presenting any audio/visual material in their presentations.
    • If someone signs a performance agreement, they do not need to sign a standard recording release too.

Affinity partnerships: If co-producing a program that features a college and unit faculty member, college and unit alumni, or affinity group alumni, reach out to appropriate engagement officer for possible cross-promotion on their social channels, email newsletters, online calendars, etc. For example DAP, Human Ecology, Lab of O, Cornell Entrepreneur Network (CEN) etc.
