Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Grumpensis (antigenic formula 1,13,23:d:1,7) is a serovar of the O:13 (G) serogroup. This serotype has been widespread across 11 countries and regions around the world since 2005, originating from various sources including animal products and plant-based items such as chili powders.

Animal reservoir: S. Grumpensis has been found in chicken, guinea pig. 

Geographical distribution: S. Grumpensis has been found in India, Gambia, Senegal, China, Spain, Netherlands, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States.
