Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Apeyeme (antigenic formula 8,20:z38:-) is a serovar of the group O:8 (C2-C3) serogroup. This serovar has been documented to cause meningoencephalitis in an infant. It has been found in canal water in Bangkok, Thailand.

Animal reservoir: S. Apeyeme has been isolated from chicken, waterfowl, and goat.  

Geographical distribution: S. Apeyeme has only been described in Thailand, Egypt, and China.

Outbreaks: No outbreaks have been associated with S. Apeyeme.
