Background: A previously-unidentified serovar of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica (antigenic formula 11:z41:e,n,z15), was identified in Greece in Spring 2016. The proposed name of the novel serotype is Salmonella Vari.
Animal reservoir: It is not known if antigenic type 11:z41:e,n,z15 is associated with any animals at this time.
Geographical distribution: The new serotype with antigenic formula 11:z41:e,n,z15 was found in five European countries (see below).
Outbreaks: A multi-country outbreak has been associated with Salmonella antigenic type 11:z41:e,n,z15.
