Theme: Toni Morrison Quilting Project

Opening: February 2023-June 2023

Across cultures, from piecing to filling and finally to quilting and binding, quilt making was meant to be a community experience. It was a chance to sit and talk with friends and family while creating useful objects for the home made from the scraps of everyday life. After a time of isolation, we honor the work of Toni Morrison, recognize the importance of the use of quilt making in her novels and the contributions to the art form by African Americans, by engaging Cornellians and Ithaca community members in a hands-on quilting project.
