De-Reserving items in Voyager

  1. In Voyager Circulation, select Functions > Pick and Scan or press Ctrl+K.
  2. Set Temporary Location and Temporary Type to Clear.
  3. Click the Items tab and scan each item to be taken off reserve. As long as the Barcode field remains selected, any number of items may be scanned without clicking in the field.
  4. After each item, check that the Holdings Location and the Permanent Location are identical, the Permanent Type indicates the correct item type, and Update Item Status says Processed.
  5. Discharge any item belonging to another unit.

Potential Issues using Pick and Scan

  • If, when placing items on reserve, the Permanent Location or Permanent Type was changed, they will need to be corrected manually. In most cases, the permanent location should be set to the holding location. Use best judgment for item type, but if you are unsure, please include a note when returning the item to its owning unit.
  • Items from certain locations (i.e. Olin A/V) may not be alterable using Voyager Circulation. In these cases, Pick & Scan will display the item, but the item will not be updated. The Update Item Status will read Not authorized to modify/delete this item: no security for current location. Usually, the Cataloging client will be able to edit these items.

Deleting Personal Copies

Personal copies may be deleted as before, however, they no longer need to be de-reserved first (unless they were put on reserve using the Voyager Circulation Reserve function).

  1. Log in to Cataloging with your unit's Reserve Operator ID.
  2. Select Record > Retrieve by barcode... and scan the item to be deleted.
  3. Select Record > Show associated records and open the holdings and bib records for that item.
  4. Records are deleted with Record > Delete. Items must be deleted first, then holdings, then bibs.

De-Reserving in Ares

At the end of the semester, the status of all items on reserve in Ares will be changed to "Item Removed from Reserves." No further action is required.

Please note that Ares may remove items that are intended for permanent reserve. These items may need to be manually reactivated at the beginning of the next semester.

De-Reserving in Blackboard

At the end of each semester all Library created Blackboard sites should be removed.

  1. If needed archive the Blackboard course by following these directions: Archive a Blackboard Course.
    1. This should only be done if there where documents uploaded directly to Blackboard.
  2. Email atc_support@cornell.edu  with a list of the blackboard ID's to be removed.
  • No labels
