The Class Info tab holds all the information for the currently selected class.

Active: There are two setting for this option. Yes means that the class is visible though the
web interface to students, if within the selected semester, faculty and their proxies. No
is selected when a Instructor or their proxy chooses to delete a course through the web
interface. The course is no longer visible but the information is still stored within the
      Ares system.

Registrar ID: This field is currently not used.

External ID: This field stores the ID that links the Ares web interface to a course management
system such as Blackboard. If a professor has a Blackboard site the Course ID
they use in Blackboard, such as DSOC_1101_Fall2007, would go here.

Note: It is important to note that the External ID must be unique for each
Ares course. If more than one Ares course uses the same ID Ares will only pull
the items from the oldest course in the system.

Semester: This is the semester to which the class, and it's reserve items, will be available to
the students through the web interface.

Note: If a class is being reused please see section 14.1.2 on page 75 to copy
a class over. Do not change the semester here unless it is to correct a mistake
made in the course's initial setup.

Override Semester Start/Stop Dates?: This option will allow you to set new start and
stop dates for a class other than the dates preset by the semester that has been selected.
If a class needs access to items either before or after a normal semesters dates this is
      where it should be set.

Start/Stop Dates: The start and stop dates are initially set by the semester chosen. If
Override Semester Start/Stop Dates is selected the dates here will be the dates that
students can access the class through the web interface instead of the dates set by the
      semester.

Course Number: This is the course number that has been assigned by the registrar's office
for this course. (e.g., BIOG 4010)

Class Name: This field stores the name of the class as assigned by the registrar's office.
      (e.g., Introduction to Biology)

Class Code/Section Number: This field is only used if the course has different sections
that need to have individual reserves for each.

Instructor Username: The user name (Net ID) of the primary instructor for the course.
Only one instructor can be set per course; if another instructor needs access to the course
they must be added as a proxy.

Instructor: The name of the instructor selected in the Instructor Username field. This field is for
display purposes only and cannot be edited.

Department: This field is currently not used.

URL: This field holds an optional URL that links to an outside course site. (This field is
      currently not used.)

Max Copyright Costs: This field sets the maximum amount of copyright that a instructor
is willing to pay for the course. (This field is currently not used.)

Default Pickup Location: This field sets the Reserves Location for the course. This is
the default location for all items added to the course from the web interface. A different
Pickup Location can be selected for each item when it's added.

Number Of Students: This field has the number of students expected to attend the current
course. The primary use for this field is in the calculation of copyright cost, which is
      not used.

Description: This is an option for a course description displayed when students search
for a course through the web interface.

Assign A Class Password: This toggle button sets whether a password is needed for a stu-
dent to access a course. (This option is not used.)
