Hi everyone:

Although we’ve been pretty quiet for the past few weeks, the 2CUL TSI Steering Committee has been meeting and working regularly to lay the groundwork for our collective role in 2CUL Phase 2.  So far, the Steering Committee has focused almost exclusively on logistical, philosophical, and housekeeping details, which is why you haven’t heard much from us -- until now, that is, in this first in a continuing series of occasional progress reports on 2CUL Technical Services Integration.  We’d like to call your attention to a few developments:

  1. We’ve added some additional detail to the overview of 2CUL TSI, based on language included in the final version of the proposal that Cornell (on behalf of 2CUL) submitted to the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in late August.  See the top frame on the TSI wiki home page.  We’ve also tweaked the Steering Committee charge to reflect this new level of detail.
  2. We have developed some “Operating Principles for Technical Services Integration,” which we will all need to keep in mind after we move beyond the preliminaries of TSI.  These principles, along with the “Operating Principles for the 2CUL Environment with a Shared LMS” are available on the Operating Principles page in the wiki.
  3. Most of our Steering Committee minutes, which may or may not be of general interest, are also available on the TSI wiki.  See the “Meetings” section of the Steering Committee page in the wiki.
  4. We are in the process of appointing our first TSI working group, a “Remote Desktop Support Committee.”  More on this group after we’ve worked out the administrative details of charging and appointing a TSI team and finalized the charge for this particular committee.  We hope soon to begin charging additional working groups in various functional areas.

We will push out information on TSI, as appropriate, but please don’t hesitate to take a peek at the TSI wiki page from time to time.  If you have questions or concerns, please consult your supervisor or any member of the TSI Steering Committee: Kate Harcourt, Colleen Major, or Robert Rendall at Columbia; Adam Chandler, Boaz Nadav-Manes, or me at Cornell.
