• We met at Columbia for a get-acquainted meeting which proved to be thorough, satisfying and productive. After Matt and Joan provided a nice tour of the technical services area, we got to work in a small meeting room for an afternoon of intense discussion.
  • We agreed that having our initial report and recommendations ready by the end of July should work fine for us.
  • Using an outline of what we agreed beforehand were the most significant aspects of the ordering function, we discussed each group of tasks at length, comparing differences between the two CULs. We noted differences in workflow, including the fact that Columbia uses the word “rider” and Cornell uses the term “flyer” for that piece of paper that staff in both institutions put in books to indicate its destination and any special treatment required.
  • All four of us took notes, spoke freely and compared  workflows, concerns and areas of discord and harmony.
  • Matt will be submitting more detailed notes to Basecamp later in the week, outlining the dependencies/limitations & similarities/differences which we outlined at the end of our meeting.
