TSI Administrative Team meeting -- Feb. 5, 2013
Lyndsi Prignon and Carla Mezic (sitting in for Gail Anderson) joined the team for the first part of this meeting, during which we reviewed the team's charge and the anticipated role of the human resources liaisons. We spent a bit of time talking about the role of the 1199 SEIU union in Columbia's workplace -- for more, see the1199 SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement between Columbia University and the 1199 Clerical and Cafeteria Employees.
We further discussed the idea of a Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Tibetan team to focus on CJKT issues specifically. Since the TSI functional teams will be responsible for the review of CJKT operations as part of their broader charge, we determined that the role of the CJKT Team would be essentially administrative, covering staffing, contracts and agreements, general policies, and strategic planning issues. As such, we determined that these needs would be best served by including representatives from both institutions, Jim Cheng and Liren Zheng, as liaisons to the TSI Administrative Team. Kate will update the charge [done] and one of us will invite Jim C. and Liren to the group and the team's next meeting (TBA).
Bob (via WebEx) and Xin will join the TSI Steering Committee at 12:00 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, to answer questions and review the progress of the SC during its meetings in Ithaca next week.
