Common procedures used by ChemIT to update computer running current Mac OSX

Checklist

OS Updates

• Check for OS updates through the App Store
  • This will also have updates for software such as ITunes and Safari
  • Keep checking for updates after restart until no updates appear

Common Software

Adobe

• Acrobat

• Creative Cloud

  • Version 2018, as of 1/18/2018

• Flash

  • System Preference → Flash Player → Updates → Check now

Chrome

• Menu → Help → About Google Chrome → Checks to see if running most recent version of Chrome

Firefox ESR

• Menu → Options → Advanced → Update
• Browser plug ins (Silverlight, flash, etc.)
  • http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

Java

• ONLY if installed
• Through the Java control panel in System Preferences

Microsoft

• Office

  • Run Microsoft Office Updater
  • See: Mac Adding/Removing programs for upgrade to MSO 2016

• SCEP

• Silverlight

  • If not signed: System Preferences → Security and Pivacy → "Click the lock to make changes" → Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere
  • Keep as allow from Anywhere
