Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Vitkin (antigenic formula 28:l,v:e,n,x) is a serovar of the O:28 serogroup. 

Animal reservoir: Serovar Vitkin was found in primate, pet turtles and pet bearded dragons.

Geographical distribution: Serovar Vitkin has been found in France, and U.S.

Outbreaks: Outbreaks have been associated with S. Vitkin.
