What we meant in last week's minutes is that we need detailed information on materials and methods of construction of the solar ovens in order to estimate their carbon footprint very accurately, and we will gather that information when we go there. In the meantime, we will do an carbon analysis based on reasonable estimates of those inputs.

Work Completed:
We discussed budget and potential sources of funding.

We decided on new subteams:
bigger box:
Kelly Schuman
Kevin Kircher
Dan Smith
Yamilat Echeverria
Reshman Hooda

paint peeling:
Aditi Kolhekar
Carmen Iao
Rustom Meyer

We wrote out a bill of materials for the paint peeling project.

Work Planned:

Yamilat is going to call the manufacturers of the paint that Mujeres Solares uses, and try to order some.
We need to find the astm standard for tests to quantify adhesion- we may use that for our paint test.

Scaling up the box cooker for more food:

We will make two scaled up models of the cooker. The first will be a direct dimension scale up in which the volume of the box will be increased by 50%. For the second scaled up model we will expand the cooking volume by 50% again but this time by indirect scaling methods. We will expand the area in which they can put cooking pots while maintaining the current depth of the oven.

We have received an updated construction manual from the group and will scale up based on the dimensions and design laid out in that manual. In the next week we will have all new dimensions determined and calculate and order a proper amount of materials so that we can begin construction on the prototype ovens ASAP. We will also develop a construction schedule so that we can involve members of the ESW student organization in the construction process in order to facilitate work between the groups and to expedite the construction process.
