Due to limited conservator time and many competing priorities, including demand for complex rare treatment, rehousing, digitization projects from across Cornell University Library, we are frequently switching between project deadlines. Below is a information explaining how we respond to incoming materials and how we often prioritize work.

Highest (1-2 weeks)

  • Exhibits
  • Unexpected request (Patron, Loan, etc.)
  • Digitization prep
  • Circulating materials
  • Inter library loan
  • Grant funded project/dedicated funds

High (Per date stipulated by requester. Usually 1-3 months)

  • Loan
  • Teaching support (RMC Classes)
  • Smaller Exhibits

Medium (3-6 months)

  • New acquisition
  • Newly cataloged

Low (6 months - scheduled )

  • Post digitization
  • Post exhibit
  • Annex transfer projects
  • Batched items
  • Backlog
