Accomplishments

• Set up and ran simulations with coarsened mesh, the total number of cells were brought down by a factor of 2.5, the density of the mesh in x, y and z direction were in the same order of magnitude

Outcomes

• 2nd order model didn't converge with solutions with e-6 residual from the 1st order
• The model with coarse mesh converged below e-9 with 1st order solver and converged to e-6 with 2nd order solver

Issues

• The resultant contours of energy dissipation rate deviated significantly from the previous 3D models and 2D models
• Need to run 3D simulations with periodic boundary conditions to compare with the 2D model
