About the Map Collection:

The Map Collection in Olin Library is a collection of paper maps, atlases, and books related to geographic study. Most of the collection is stored in the "Map Room" which has various resources for studying the material.

Where is it:

The map room is located in the basement of Olin. It is reached by going down the stairs to the right of the main entrance and then through the study space at the bottom of the stairs. On the wall opposite the entrance to the study space is the door to the map room. This room will remain locked when not in use.

Email olinmaps@cornell.edu. In this email a patron is advised to request specific maps, or a specific region/topic prior to the meeting. This allows Maps staff to find requested maps in advance and pull similar maps for additional study.

Many items in the collection can be found through the catalog. Under the search facet for "Format" select map. Under the facet for "Library Location" select Olin Library
Items in the catalog that have availability listed as "Olin Library Maps" are items stored in the map room. Maps are non-circulating and can only be used while within the map room. Books contained in the collection are only loaned on a case by case basis.

Scans of maps may be requested by Cornell students, faculty, and staff. More information on this is available on the Map Collection's page.

Faculty can request Map Collection instruction for classes by emailing.
