The IMLS Shareable Local Authorities Forum was held on October 24-25, 2016, at Cornell University's Albert R. Mann Library. 34 people attended, representing a wide range of organizations, projects, and stakeholder interests from the United States and abroad.
The presentations given at the forum and a summary of the meeting discussions have been posted to this site. The participants will regroup early in the new year to plan actions based on ideas surfaced during the forum. Items for follow-up action include a survey on local authority creation, identifying areas that will benefit from work on standards and specifications, and initiating collaborative work in other venues, such as the FOLIO and PCC communities.
A second meeting is planned, most likely to be scheduled for March or April. The meeting outcomes were reported at two venues during November: the DLF Forum in Milwaukee, WI, and the Program for Cooperative Cataloging's Policy Committee meeting in Washington, DC.
