Scope:  This procedure covers site-specific emergency planning actions for Library Technical Services. It does not duplicate campus emergency procedures, but rather augments them with our own approach to preparing staff. Please note, Archival Technical Services staff should refer to RMC procedures.

 A. Expectations for LTS Staff

  1. All LTS Staff should review emergency procedures and guidelines provided by the University .

    1. The LTS Senior Management Team will send an email to LTS staff on a yearly basis to remind all staff to review the University and LTS guidelines outlined in this procedure.

    2. Cornell Emergency Services has all kinds of information, including a short animated  general emergency video. https://emergency.cornell.edu/   

    3. Maps of Olin are available near Olin 110C (Jesse's office)
    4. PLEASE NOTE:  Staff with any kind of disability, either short or long term, may request assistance in creating an evacuation plan: https://accessibility.cornell.edu/campus/emergency-evacuation-plan/  

  2. Please refer any questions to your supervisor.

 B. Expectations for LTS Supervisors

  1. Annual tour of exits in LTS for staff who work on site.
  2. Onboarding new staff by giving them a tour of Olin, using maps with marked exits as needed.
  3. Encourage staff to review the Cornell University emergency procedures. 

 C. Expectations for the Senior Management Team

  1. The LTS Senior Management Team will send an email to LTS staff on a yearly basis to remind all staff to review the University and LTS guidelines.
  2. Discuss with LTS Heads supervisors and the LTS Training Team to determine if additional in-person training is needed from the CUPD, or if other changes to training need to be made.

D. Expectations for the LTS Training Team

  1. Discuss with LTS Heads and SMT to determine if in-person training is needed from the CUPD, and arrange such training as needed. CUPD training will be voluntary for LTS staff.
  2. Request updated maps from Facilities after major construction projects, which will be adapted as needed by the LTS Training Team.
