Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Indiana (antigenic formula 6,7,14:e,h:e,n,z15) is a serovar of the O:7 (C1) serogroup. S. Indiana is a common serotype in raw chicken form the Henan province in China; Indiana isolates from chickens in China have been reported to be resistant to ciprofloxacin, with frequent co-resistance to cefotaxime.
Animal reservoir: The most common reservoir for serovar Derby is retail chickens.
Geographical distribution: S. Derby is found in China.
