2CUL TSI Steering Committee Meeting Notes, Feb. 3 2014

Present: Adam, Boaz, Colleen, Jim, Kate, Robert

Draft Documents on Basecamp: 1. Guidelines for Phase 2 Pilot Projects; 2. Guidelines for Measuring or Estimating Costs/Benefits for TSI Phase 2 Recommendations; 3. Methodology for Measuring Work Across Functional Areas

The Steering Committee agreed that documents 1 and 2 are related and should be revised together (or possibly merged) in conjunction with work on the proof registry. Boaz and Kate will meet in Ithaca on Friday to follow up on this.

From comments received so far, we have a sense that the fourth option (a local time-based 2CUL currency) is preferred among the methodologies outlined in document 3.  We will take this to JSMIN on Thursday for more input before forwarding the document to Bob and Xin.

Pilot Proposal for 2CUL Co-Management of Ordering Units

This proposal originates from Lois and Matt and has already been discussed with their managers and Bob and Xin.  This would be a six-month pilot project with an MOU, and Cornell has a backup plan in place if it is not successful.  To implement this proposal we will have to move quickly (everything needs to be in place by April 1st).  The implications for Columbia need to be spelled out in more detail.  Columbia TSI SC members will meet with Bob this week to see if we can push this forward.  We will need a communication plan for staff, and announcements at Cornell and Columbia should be coordinated (simultaneous).

Cornell's Career Development Week

This time we want representatives of the working groups, rather than SC members, to take the lead in presenting the latest 2CUL developments.  Jason Kovari has already volunteered; we will try to recruit some more presenters (ordering, e-resources, cataloging) to take part in a 45-minute roundtable discussion.
