 Logging in from Windows

  1. Start Hummingbird Exceed
  2. Start Putty (if putty is not already installed, it is a free download from:  http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe )
  3. In the "Host Name" box, type in either korat or minx
  4. On the left side of the Putty window, expand (if not already expanded) Connection
  5. Expand SSH
  6. Highlight Tunnels
  7. On the top right of the Putty screen, check the box labeled Enable X11 Forwarding
  8. or XMing
  9. On CNF CAD Room and Clean Room Windows machines, there are pre-configured "Korat" and "Minx" icons which will start up Putty with all the correct options. Double click one of these.If you wish to save these settings for future use, on the left side of the screen, highlight Session, then give your session a name in the "Saved Sessions" box, and click the "Save" button
  10. To connect, click the Open button.
  11. Login with the short version of your Cornell NetID or Cornell GuestID and passwordnetid or guestid. On 32-bit Windows machines, you will not be prompted for your netid/guestid password.
