 Short Version

The netid looks is usually two or three letters followed by a series of numbers. The letters will usually correspond to your initials. For example, sph1 .

The guestid is usually formatted as firstname.lastname optionally followed by a number. For example: john.doe or john.doe5

 Long Version

The long version of your netid/guestid looks just like the short version, but with some extra information appended to the end. For a netid, this will be either @CIT.CORNELL.EDU or @cit.cornell.edu . And for a guestid, the extra information is one of @GUEST.CORNELL.EDU or @guest.cornell.edu . See below for when to use uppercase or lowercase after the @ sign.  The portion of your netid/guestid before the @ symbol will always be lowercase.
