Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Indiana (antigenic formula 6formula 1,74,1412:e,hz:e1,n,z157) is a serovar of the O:7 4 (C1B) serogroup. S. Indiana is a common serotype in raw chicken form the Henan province in China; Indiana isolates from chickens in China have been reported to be resistant to ciprofloxacin, with frequent co-resistance to cefotaxime.

Animal reservoir: The most common reservoir for serovar Derby is retail chickens.   

Geographical distribution: S. Derby is found in China. 

Outbreaks: Outbreaks linked to S. Derby have been reported.
