All employees are required to complete an I-9 form in Workday as a result of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. This Act created a national employment verification system, which places the responsibility employers responsibile for verification of verifying the identity and employment eligibility of for all employees on the employer. Incorrect or incomplete information will result in a delay of the appointment. Supervisors Library supervisors should send students to Library Human Resources in 213 Olin Library for I-9 processing. Due to hybrid work schedules, appointments are recommended.

I-9’s for students only need to be completed once, as long as the employee remains a student and does not have a break in employment service of a year or more. If the student is unsure if they have completed an I-9, it can be verified by calling 607-255-7071 7021 or by the supervisor/HR looking up their eligibility in the Student Employment System.

International students with an F-1 or J-1 visa should be sent to Library Human Resources for processing. Foreign national students on any other visa should go to ISSOthe International Services Office of Global Learning, in 350 300 Caldwell Hall, for processing. Remind students to fill out tax forms and to sign up for direct deposit via Workday.
