Changes to faculty's VIVO entries are not consistently getting carried over to CCB's faculty pages.

Data point, January 2014: An emeritus VIVO page was changed, and the change showed up on member's CCB page pretty quickly (minutes? hours?). Change was the title.

Note: Any link to the faculty's own CCB web page is 100% suppressed (which makes sense). Example:

Vivo page:

http://vivo.cornell.edu/display/individual6076

Faculty page in CCB's site:

http://chemistry.cornell.edu/faculty/detail.cfm?netid=jam99

Web site shown in both sites:

    Group Website < http://marohn.chem.cornell.edu/>

Web site only showing up in VIVO:

Chemistry and Chemical Biology profile < http://chemistry.cornell.edu/faculty/detail.cfm?netid=jam99>

Get data fields mapped

  • From VIVO's fields to...
  • Chem's faculty web page entry location.

Oliver asked BobM about this idea, 12/12/13:

What would it take to get a "map" showing me what data fields in VIVO (as seen by a faculty member) get mapped to which sections in Chemistry's faculty web pages?

Sort of like a DB's entity relationship diagram (ERD), I suppose. A screenshot of VIVO's fields pointing to a screenshot of a fully-filled faculty page, with arrows, may be a good way to do this.

Yet again today I ran into two instances where putting data in VIVO for someone did not show up where I expected it to show up in the faculty page. Having an ERD-type map indicating what is supposed to happen will help a lot to:

1) Ensure data is entered in the correct field in VIVO to get the intended result in the Chemistry faculty page.

2) Facilitate de-bugging in case there is a feed problem (to distinguish it from being a "wrong field" problem.
