This Food Safety Wiki Project was supported by a USDA NIFA funded grant entitled "A National Food Safety Education Program: building a multidisciplinary food safety training pipeline from K-12 to graduate school" (NIFA 2010-04502); the lead institution for this grant is Cornell University, collaborating institutions include Colorado State University, Purdue University, North Carolina State University, Alabama A&M University, North Carolina A & T State University, and Texas Wesleyan University.

This project included 5 major aims:

(1) Develop and conduct science teachers’ workshops that enable the teachers to use food safety experiments in the classroom and advise students on careers in food safety. The project team for aim 1 and current and completed efforts for aim 1 can be found here.

(2) Develop and deliver K-12 food safety activities and experiments to be taught by graduate and undergraduate students. The project team for aim 2 and current and completed efforts for aim 2 can be found here.

(3) Develop and conduct a multi-institutional undergraduate summer research program in food safety. The project team for aim 3 and current and completed efforts for aim 3 can be found here.

(4) Recruit and train undergraduate students through a “food safety track” within existing food science undergraduate programs. The project team for aim 4 and current and completed efforts for aim 4 can be found here.

(5) Develop and implement multi-institutional course-based Masters of Professional Studies (MPS), research-based M.S., and Ph.D. training programs in food safety. The project team for aim 5 and current and completed efforts for aim 5 can be found here
